August Update (5): Scenic Level - Barnstaple Town - Pilton - Wrafton - Instow

Revised Curve past 'Shapland & Petter' (Cabinet Works) and Gantry Crane (Trix). Straight Point into Siding/ R6 curve on mainline.
Curved Bridge now Roco Radius 4 instead of 3 (which was all I had available before) resulting in..
a larger bridge (though smaller than the previous layout!) - the expanded polystyrene shows how much by.
Bachmann Super Voyagers, with their Tilt-CAM action STILL object to this curve. (Max permitted speed 15mph in reality)

A Medium (R5/6) Rocoline Point, gives access to the 'Goods Line' at Barnstaple Town - resinstated from earlier plans.

Corresponding R5/6 Point - previously just as 'Transfer Siding' now gives the Platform Access and Goods Loop connection
Lynton & Barnstaple Narrow Gauge terminal track in foreground, with the Torrington Line on the 'far' bank.

Rolle Quay Wharehousing obscures the Torrington Line.
The next siding had a R3 point and tight dockside curve:
Increasing the next curved point back to R5/6 brings the lines a bit close together again 8-(
The circular track allows Terminating trains to be reversed, or have continuous loop operation.

The Civic Centre dominates the real skyline - this model looks nicer than the grey concrete original.
Tram Tracks past the Centre represent the route off to Pilton/Braunton - non operational section with static tram display

In reality the River Yeo to Rolle Quay and beyond winds around RGB (which had a Narrow Gauge line of its own)(now flats)
and was accessed by a Swing Bridge immediately beyond Barnstaple Town at Pottington
Here there is the representation of the Quay (and flourmill wharehousing) by the goods loop line) separating Pilton Yard

From the bottom: (The Table gap/indent allows access to the Velux Window above the layout)
Working Tram System Pilton - Barnstaple Centre - Junction Station (Walthers/Shinohara Bridge Track)
Mixed Gauge Line - operational for the narrow gauge to reach the Town Station or Loop.
Roadworks to the left block the Standard Gauge Tram line which otherwise heads off past the Civic Centre
Narrow Gauge Track from Town/Loop: these through tracks allow cross-platform interchange with the Trams at Pilton
The Barnstaple - Ilfracombe line passses on the near bank - now rather near the Femington Port on the other side
Ships occupying the river will provide some limited screening - Revell SAR as a supply vessel for Lundy, Corvette and others..

Pilton Station and Yard - showing a 3 coach train/unit is the normal limit. Sidings beyond can be for transfer
This point and siding is 'on trial' but offers a 'logical' transfer point now that the Town has the goods loop

The original Ferry made in 1989, now to be rebuilt as 2-track entry (Stena and DFDS keep increasing their ferry sizes)
TEE 7-car set in the foreground in celebration of 50 years of TEE services across Europe (The Continent)

Wrafton Station, with too many buildings at present, Chivenor Airfield over concealed (Ferry/MoD) storage

Instow Station - reduced to a single platform - with Amphibious trials vehicles etc - occupies the corner
September:
Sufficient Rocoline Track and Pointwork was obtained in the Nederlands to allow it to be used to construct
another 'Scandinavian' Layout:- the proposed '4.5m x 1m' / '4-door' or equivalent with crossing diagonal station and storage below.
Radius 20 and Radius 10 sections have now been used to replace the 'directional kinks' created from trimmed Radius 3/6 pieces in Beechingless Barnstaple
After completing the relaying of the GWR Branchline into Victoria Road in Rocoline, tracklaying is completed.
Feedback wiring for future use will be laid in prior to covering with Scenary.
